Forty four of the Pasco Education Foundation’s  Take Stock in Children recipients went to Tallahassee in March for the annual Rally in Tally.  Rally in Tally demonstrates the impact of the Take stock In Children scholarship and mentoring program to lawmakers in Tallahassee.  More than 1,500 Take Stock in Children students and mentors statewide traveled to Tallahassee to meet their local legislators and show their support for the organization that is changing the lives of low-income children and working to break the cycle of academic failure and poverty.

Governor Charlie Crist spoke to the students, mentors and partners in attendance and emphasized the importance of each child graduating from high school and attending college.

Pasco County scholars had the opportunity to meet and hear the inspirational words of Senator Mike Fasano in the Capitol’s Senate Chambers. State Representative Will Weatherford joined the group with an informative question and answer period.  Students were also given an educational mock session demonstrating the route a bill takes through the Florida Legislature.
